disinfected together with the bedding from their homes, amounting in all to
1,433 articles. Children from the above-mentioned boroughs treated for
similar conditions were as follows: 215 for head lice, nil for body lice and
for scabies. The number of attendances of these children for baths
at the station was 1,294.

Motor Disinfecting Van.—It was found necessary to purchase a new
motor van in place of the old Thornycroft, which had been in continuous
service since 1914. After considering various types of vehicles a
"Morris Commercial Super 25-cwt. Chassis 15.9 h.p. was selected.
It is fitted with a special zinc-lined body designed for use as a disinfecting
van in accordance with specification. The price was £325 1s. 8d.
inclusive of delivery charges, &c.
The new van was put in service in July, 1929, and to the end of the
year completed 1,805 miles, carrying 1,420 cwts. of goods. The petrol
consumed was 203 gallons, equal to 8'8 miles per gallon.
The old van, until replaced, ran 2,345 miles and carried 1,704 cwts.
of goods. The petrol consumed was 286 gallons, equal to 8.2 miles per
gallon.
