Mr. W. H. Turner, the Dental Surgeon, submits the following
report:—
"I have pleasure in forwarding details of the work of the Dental
Clinic during 1927, and note that the high figures for 1926 have been
well maintained, whilst with regard to the attendances of patients the
total numbers have now exceeded 1,000.
"I have only to mention that the few difficulties which have arisen
in the smooth-running routine have been caused by the lack of a second
attendance during the week. This was foreshadowed in the report for
1926 in which was mentioned the possibility of it becoming necessary
to have a bi-weekly session.
"We may still be able to postpone this step—for a time, at least—
but meanwhile it will help the work of the clinic if the fortnightly afternoon
sessions and the fortnightly gas sessions are transferred to another
weekday. The regular morning sessions being held on Wednesdays,
I consider that the most suitable and useful time for the alternate sessions
would be on Fridays.
"Amongst the many advantages of this course may be mentioned
the possibility of patients being seen in less than a week after extensive
'gas' extractions, and also, in the alternate weeks, the opportunities
of patients being attended twice weekly for acute dental conditions or
for urgent fillings.
"It is satisfactory to note the increase in the number of fillings
completed during the year, as from the dental point of view this ' conservation
' work is of great importance."
