The death-rate in 1926 was 0.13 per 1,000, the rate for London being
0.17. Last year the corresponding rates were higher, being 0.26 for
Westminster and 0.23 for London.
Diarrhœa and Enteritis.—Deaths from this cause were much higher
in 1926 than in the previous year. The total deaths were 20—8 males and
12 females—13 being under 1 year old, 2 between the ages of 1 and 2,
1 between 2 and 5, and 4 between 45 and 65. The infant death-rate
from this cause in Westminster was 8.0.

The 13 deaths under 1 year of age were distributed over the quarters
of the year:—

Whooping Cough.—46 cases only were notified during the year with
2 deaths—one at the age of 9 months and the other at 3 years. This is
a remarkable decrease on the figures of 1925, when 255 cases, with 17
deaths, were recorded. Ten cases were moved to hospital.
