Annual Report on the Health and Sanitary
Condition of the City of Westminster.
1922.
Mr. Mayor, My Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present my Annual Report for the year 1922.
It includes Keturns required by the Ministry of Health and Home
Office.
Details of the various activities of the Public Health Department
having been given in the 1921 Report, it is not necessary to do more
than record any changes which have taken place in 1922.
Additional volumes, relating to the Census of 1921, have been issued,
and from these information relating to "Westminster has been abstracted
and compared with similar figures ascertained at former Census periods.
With the exception of the first quarter of the year, when influenza
was somewhat prevalent, the health of the City has been good and,
notwithstanding the existence of unemployment and difficulties in housing
accommodation, the death-rate of infants was only 51 per 1,000 born,
the lowest figure it has ever been and only equalled by one other metropolitan
borough.
