When the Census figures are available it will be possible to ascertain
the relative death-rates. It is evident, however, from the above figures,
that males predominate in some wards, such as Regent, Pall Mall and the
Strand, while in others, Knightsbridge St. George and Victoria, there are
more female residents.
Infantile Mortality.—The corrected death-rate of infants for Westminster
was 73-6 deaths per 1,000 births, and for London 75. These are
the lowest recorded.
