A. STATISTICS.
Population.
During 1912, some further results of the 1911 Census have been
published. These show the number of males and females in each ward,
and the kind of building used as dwellings with the population therein.
These particulars are shown in the two tables following.
35,185 persons were recorded as living in 10,802 flats; 10,246 in
hotels and public houses; 11,449 in institutions, barracks, Ac.
There were 2,489 persons in hospitals and poor law institutions in
the City, viz.:—

The majority of the indoor paupers of Westminster are in
institutions outside the City, at Edmonton, Fulham Road, Cleveland
Street, Hendon and Ashford.
There were 3,464 persons recorded as residing in Military Barracks
Hospitals, &c., in the City. These are given as 2,812 officers and men,
and 652 other inmates, of whom 215 were males and 437 females.
Twenty-four persons were recorded on board 14 vessels.
Ninety-three persons (14 of whom were women) were found in
barns, sheds, &c., or in the open air.
