The defendant said that at one time it was quite legitimate to sell milk of sulphur containing sulphate of lime in the proportions found in the sample in question, but matters were altered ten or twelve years ago, and now only pure precipitated sulphur ought to be used. He had investigated the matter, and found that some of the old style milk of sulphur was kept at his Hackney establishment (to be used by dyers), and some of it had been sent by mistake to his New Street shop. | |||||
