The number of deaths of children under one year of age
(Parishioners; see Table A at end of report) was 18.3; the
percentage of such deaths to registered births was 1340,
and to total deaths of parishioners, 17.24; thus the mortality
of children under one year of age was only 134 to a
thousand births, while in London generally it was 159, and
the average for the 33 largest English towns was 177, the
highest being Birmingham 197, Salford 219, Burnley 220,
and Preston 262, deaths of children under one year of age
to a thousand births.

From Table V. it appears that there were 518 registered
deaths of persons aged 60 and upwards, giving a percentage
of 32.85 of the gross total of deaths, as against a
percentage for London generally of only 23.64. There were,
however (see Table VI.), only 305 deaths of parishioners of
65 years and upwards, giving a percentage of 28.58 of the
corrected total of deaths.
From Table V. we also see that 97 deaths from injuries
