Market Accommodation.
On the question of the establishment of Markets for the
Metropolis, the Vestry passed the following resolution, viz.:—
That the Vestry is of opinion that the Wholesale
Markets of London should be provided and controlled
by an Authority which represents the ratepayers
of London.
A copy of this resolution was forwarded to the Corporation
of the City of London, the Metropolitan Board of
Works, and each Vestry and District Board in the
Metropolis.
Westminster, Pimlico, Chelsea, and Fulham
Tramways.
Notices of an intended application to the Board of
Trade for a Provisional Order for powers to construct Tramways
in Pimlico Road, Buckingham Palace Road, Stockbridge
Terrace, Warwick Street, and Ebury Bridge in this Parish,
were given in November 1880. The Yestry withheld their
consent from the scheme, which soon became dropped by the
Promoters.
Mid Metropolitan Railway (Pneumatic System).
Notices and plans of this scheme, for making an underground
Railway down the centre of Oxford Street and through
other parts of the Parish, were served on the Vestry in
November 1880. After full consideration, the Vestry
determined not to oppose the principle of the Bill, but to
petition Parliament for Clauses to be inserted in the Bill for
the proper protection of the Parish roads, streets, sewers,
&c., and the ratepayers affected by the works.
The Bill was introduced into Parliament, and the
Petition of the Vestry duly presented, but it was not found
necessary to take any further steps, as the Bill was, at an
early stage, withdrawn.
