My Lords and Gentlemen,
The year 1878 has been a very healthy one, although
the mortality has been higher than the exceptionally low
rate of 1877.
Table I. shows that although the gross total of deaths
registered in the Parish, viz., 2,007, was considerably higher
than that in any one of the last ten years, with the exception
of 1870, when it was 2,030, this was owing to the unusually
large number of deaths which took place in Public Institutions
in the Parish, viz., 741.
