Clause 65.—That Assessment Committees in the Metropolis
should be composed of Members elected, from
the Parishes in Union, by the respective Vestries,
instead of by the Board of Guardians of the Union.
The Bill was subsequently withdrawn.
District Auditors' Bill.
The Vestry petitioned Parliament against the Clauses

audited financial statements of Local Authorities, on the
ground that the Auditor is an officer appointed by the Local
Government Board, and not by the Local Authority.
The Bill, however, has become law.
Coroners' Bill.
With regard to this Bill the following resolutions were
passed by the Vestry, viz.:—
"That a clause should be introduced into the Bill for
preventing, in all cases where another room can be
found for the purpose, the holding of Inquests in
Public Houses."
"That the election of County Coroners should, in future,
be by the respective Courts of Quarter Sessions,
or by the newly-appointed County Board, if the
County Boards Bill, now pending, be passed."
"That copies of the foregoing resolutions be forwarded
to the Home Secretary and to Mr. Reginald
Yorke, M.P."
The Bill was withdrawn.
