received stating, that the Board will at all times have due
regard to economy, in authorizing expenditure out of the
Poor Rates.
PARLIAMENTARY.
Locomotives on Roads Bill (1874).
"A Bill to amend the law relating to the use of locomotive
engines on the public roads."
As by the powers of this Bill it was proposed, under
certain restrictions, to enable locomotives to be driven through
the public thoroughfares during the daytime, the Vestry
petitioned against it, as they considered that the lives of both
pedestrians and persons riding or driving would be jeopardized
thereby. The Bill was not proceeded with.
Metropolis Water Supply and Fire Prevention
Bill (1874).
"A Bill for making more effectual provision for a constant
supply of water, and for the protection of life and
property against fire in the Metropolis, and for the transfer
of the undertakings of the Water Companies supplying the
Metropolis to a Commission to be appointed under the Act."
The Vestry considering that there is no necessity for a
constant supply of water, and that no good would result
from the vesting of the property of the Metropolitan Water
Companies in a Commission such as proposed to be appointed,
resolved to petition Parliament against the Bill.
The Bill having been discharged before the presentation
of the Petition to Parliament, its presentation became
unnecessary.

Sales Act, the Vestry, adopting a suggestion of the Vestry
