This is a greater number than was registered in the corresponding quarters of the foregoing five years, viz.:—

The excess for the present quarter is found among the
deaths from zymotic diseases, which amounted to 134;
whereas in the corresponding quarter of last year they were
only 79. Hence the weekly average of deaths for this quarter,
42, exceeds that of the corresponding weeks of ten years,
which is 32.
Amongst the deaths were 25 of parishioners from smallpox,
1 of which occurred in the Hanover, 2 in the Mayfair,
