GAS.
The average result of examinations during the quarter
of the illuminating power of the gas supplied to the
Workhouse, Mount-street, was, that 2.5 feet burned in a
batswing-burner, per hour, gave a light equal to that of
14.9 sperm candles, burning 120 grains per hour.

During the same period, the gas supplied to the room
in Ebury-news, burned in a batswing-burner, at the rate
of 2.5 feet per hour, gave a light equal to that of 9.84
sperm candles, consuming 120 grains per hour, and presented
no trace of sulphuretted hydrogen.
