district, at the taking of the Census in 1861. The greatest increase has taken place in the
Kent.road sub.district; next to this the. London.road sub.district; and the least in the
Borough.road sub.district.

female, in each sub.district, with the average number of Families and Persons in each inhabited
1 house.

Table No. 3 gives the number of deaths in each sub.district, with the average. Upon
examining this Table, we shall find that the mortality is largest in the Borough.road sub.
district, altheugh it contains the fewest number of persons and families. One reason which
may be given for this result is, that there is a less number of houses for the 16,667
