The unsatisfactory Chinese egg was disposed of as follows:

In addition 874 control samples were taken from the two pasteurisation plants
in the Borough as follows:
British egg 309
Chinese egg 60
South African egg 505

All these samples were found to be satisfactory.
The large number of South African control samples is accounted for by the
fact that some 300 tons of unpasteurised egg arrived in the Borough during 1966/67
and had to be pasteurised before distribution.

Bacteriological Examination of Egg Products

The following types of Salmonellae were isolated during routine sampling of egg products during 1967:

313 samples of New Zealand second grade cheese were submitted for bacteriological
examination during 1967 with the following results:

Brands with counts in excess of 500,000 per gram were destroyed. The remainder
of the cheese was allowed to go for processing.
