Public Health Inspector in an introductory talk described the work of
the Public Health Department in relation to the importation, storage,
wholesale and retail distribution, and sampling of foodstuffs. Sampling
equipment for chemical and bacteriological examination, and specimens
of unsound food were displayed at the Town Hall.
Arrangements were made for the party to visit various food establishments
in the Borough. Dr. J. M. Ross, Senior Medical Officer, (Pood)
and Mr. T. Morley Parry, Food Hygiene Advisory Officer, both of the
Ministry of Health, were present during these visits. The Committee
will no doubt be gratified that this visit to the Metropolitan Borough
of Southwark was included in the very full programme of these important
visitors.
