Comforts Fund
This year we have supplied, out of our comforts fund, many kinds
of invalid foods - blankets - sheets - coal - fireguards - budgerigars
- curtains - clothing - convalescent holidays, etc. Also many gifts of
flowers, fruit and sweets when visiting old people in hospital. When we
get a request for help and we know that it is genuine we always help
and we are able to do this because of the generosity of those who have
sent donations to the Old People's Welfare Committee during the year.
May we ask that many more people will give generously during the
coming year to help us to carry on this very important piece of work.
Christmas Party
On Friday evening 19th December, a party was organised for homebound
old people by the Mayor of Southwark and some friends of his at
the English Martyrs Hall, Stead Street. There was plenty of tea for
everybody, followed by an entertainment. Many friends offered their cars
to transport the old people to this party and our grateful thanks go
out to all of them ."
