FOOD POISONING 11 of the 21 cases (including those for Southwark residents notified to other Boroughs from hospitals in their areas) where organisms were isolated were individual cases, as follows:-

The remaining 10 cases were in "outbreaks" (more than one
case in a family) due to Salmonella Typhi-murium, Salmonella
Anatum, and Salmonella Heidelberg.
No definite identification with any contaminated food was
obtained in any of these cases.

The highest mortality rate from neoplasm of the lung and
bronchus and for tuberculosis occurred in the 45— 64 age group.
