MEASLES.
The number of cases of this disease notified during the year was
1,985. Of these, 1,301 were under five years of age, and 567 were removed
to hospital.
One hundred and twenty-seven of those over five were also removed
to hospital. All cases treated in their homes were visited by the Health
Visitors, who gave advice and instruction where necessary.
The number of deaths from Measles during the last five years will be found hereunder:—

DIPHTHERIA.
Three hundred and sixty-one cases of this disease were notified, with
9 deaths. The annual death-rate per 1,000 population was 0.07 for
England and Wales; 0.05 for London; and 0.06 for Southwark.
Antitoxin is supplied free of charge and 68 phials and serules of
8,000 units have been supplied to Medical Practitioners in the Borough
during the year.
