DISINFECTION.
The total number of disinfections of rooms during the year by the
Council's disinfecting staff was 4,342. Of this number 1,536 rooms were
disinfected after the occurrence of the ordinary notifiable infectious
diseases, as against 2,353 rooms in 1916. 2,077 periodical sprayings of
rooms occupied by Phthisical patients were also carried out during the
year.
729 verminous rooms were sulphured and otherwise cleansed by
-the Council's staff during the year, as against 698 in 1916.
Among the total number of disinfections (4,342) it was found
necessary to strip 761 rooms. Of these 502 were in relation to the
notifiable diseases, 249 after the termination of cases of Phthisis, and
10 were verminous.
