No case of this disease was notified during the year 1908.

SCARLET FEVER.
The deaths from Scarlet Fever in the borough were 24 during 1908
as against 35 for the year 1907, and 45 for 1906.
There has been during the year a great fall in the number of cases
of Scarlet Fever occurring in the Borough.
In the ordinary behaviour of this disease we may expect a further
decline next year, followed by a rise in the year following. There has
been no special outbreak in connection with any of the schools, and the
cases have been generally of a mild type.
The total number of cases notified was 775 this year, as against
1,275 for 1907.
The percentage of deaths to the total cases notified was 3j1.
The annual mortality per 1,000 living was 0.11.
