BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK.
Public Health Office,
Town Hall, Walworth Road.
Sir and Gentlemen,
I have the honour of submitting for your consideration my
Twentieth Antiual Report on the vital statistics and general sanitary
work of the Borough for the year 1906.
Infectious disease, especially that of Scarlet Fever, was more than
usually prevalent, but fortunately upon the whole of a mild type.
Various matters such as the feeding and care of infants, the examination
of unsound food, and the places where food is sold have received
much attention during the year.
The Southwark Health Society for voluntary workers under the
direction of Misa Townsend was started and promises to do very useful
work in relation with infantile mortality.
It will be seen on reference to the report that excellent work
has been done by all the members of the staff which I am glad to
acknowledge.
I have also to thank the Council and the Public Health Committee
for their courtesy and support.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient servant,
G. B. MILLSON,
Medical Officer of Health.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors
of the Borough of Southwark.
