I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
GEOEGE MILLSON,
Mcdical Officer of Health.
FLOODING OF BASEMENTS.
The flooding of basements during storms owing to the inadequacy of
the sewers to carry off the surface water and sewage, has been a grave
menace to the health of the Borough during the year.
The following reports give the history of this flooding.
The Public Health Committee also convened a conference of the
Metropolitan Boroughs, at which complaints were made of this serious
pollution of the subsoil of their districts.
This was followed by the appearance of a deputation from this
conference at the London County Council's offices, Spring Gardens.
