QUEEN'S BUILDINGS.
The Chief Woman Inspector (Miss Elliott) was instructed in
November, 1901 to specially supervise the above buildings.
A considerable amount of attention has been given to these blocks by
Miss Elliott during the year 1902, as many as 465 inspections of separate
tenements, and 2,475 re-inspections have been made. It was found
necessary to serve 383 intimation notices, and 432 statutory notices in
order to abate the various nuisances which were found to exist.
In 131 instances summonses were taken out to enforce compliance
with the Council's notices. Details of these proceedings will be found
under "Legal Proceedings" (page 73). The various sanitary works
carried out are included in Table 24 in the total for the West District.
