GENERAL PROVISION OF II E A L T II SERVICES
FOR T n E AREA
LABORATORY FACILITIES
During the year all bacteriological examinations for the Public Health
Department were carried out by the Public Health Laboratory Service at the
Laboratories at the County Hall, S.E.I. The service is also utilised by the
general practitioners in the Borough.
HOSPITALS
There are three hospitals in the Borough - St. Andrew's, St. Clement's
and Poplar Hospital.
These hospitals, together with the Poplar Chest Clinic, Wellington Way,
E. 3, which continued to operate during the year, are under the control of the
North East Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board. Bow Group Hospital Management
Committee.
AMBULANCE FACILITIES
The provision of ambulance transport within the administrative County of London is the responsibility of the London County Council and is available, free of charge, in the following circumstances
Dial '999' and ask for 'Ambulance' or follow instructions given on telephone instrument. | ||
For the conveyance of sick persons from their homes to hospital, provided a doctor certifies that the case is one of life or death and that arrangements have been made with a hospital for the patient's admission. | Telephone | WATerloo 6000 |
