Proposed Disinfecting Station.
During the early part of the year the Council considered a report
of the General Purposes Committee regarding the development of land
owned by the Borough Council in the Bromley area in the vicinity of
the Electricity Generating Station and present Disinfecting Station.
This report, which was subsequently adopted by the Council, provided
for the new Disinfecting Station to be erected on a site in the Dust
Destructor Yard, near to the present building. The re-allocation of
sites included the transfer of the present Electrolytic Manufacturing
Depot in Violet Road to the new Disinfecting Station site. The proposals
of the Council were submitted to the Ministry of Health and
approved.
Steps were taken for the drawings to be revised preparatory to being
sent to the Quantity Surveyors. The scheme, however, has met with a
further setback, as in January, 1938, the Council considered a letter
from the Electricity Commissioners asking for the site, where it was
proposed to build the Disinfecting Station, te be reserved for use in
connection with the Electricity undertaking.
