Proposed New Buildings.—The Council has been unable to commence
the building of either the new Disinfecting Station and Cleansing Station
or the new Maternity and Child Welfare Clinic at Old Ford. It is hoped
that the difficulties which have arisen may soon be overcome and the
works started, as the accommodation at existing premises is unsuitable
and very limited.
Conferences.—The Council was represented at the following
Conferences:—
Royal Sanitary Institute—Southport, July 6th-uth.
Sanitary Inspectors' Association—Harrogate, August 31st to
September 5th.
National Smoke Abatement Society—Science Museum, South
Kensington, October 14th-17th.
Central Council for Health Education—London, November 19th20th.
Staff.—Several changes have taken place during the year and are
indicated on the list of Staff, pages 4-6.
I desire to thank the members of the Council for their continued
interest in the work of the Department and to acknowledge the co-operation
of Officers of other Departments of the Council. With a feeling of deep
gratitude I thank the members of my Staff for their loyalty and the
manner in which they have carried out their duties.
Further, I again acknowledge my indebtedness to those who from
time to time furnish information for inclusion in these reports.
I am, Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
W. ALLAN YOUNG,
Medical Officer of Health.
