During the year just over £2 was repaid on account of milk supplied
upon incorrect information, making a total sum of about £308
repaid to the end of December, 1925. The Maternity and Child Welfare
Committee have had under constant consideration the financial and
other circumstances of each of the debtors and during the year several
of the outstanding debts have been cancelled.
Since 1st April, 1923, by arrangement with the Dairymen's Association,
the Council has been paying 4d. per gallon below the ruling retail
price. The price of milk per pint to the Council varied during the
year as follows:—1st January, 3d.; 1st April, 2Ad.; 1st October, 3d.

Notes.—(a) In 1920, 49 tins of condensed milk were also issued;
(6) the Inquiry and Investigation Officer commenced duty in Maich,
1921; (c) by Circular 185, dated 31st March, 1921, children between
the ages of 3 and 5 years are only allowed milk upon a special
medical certificate.
During the year the question of a pure and clean milk supply has
been under the serious consideration of the Maternity and Child Welfare
Committee. Their deliberations culminated in the Council, on 25th
June, resolving to give notice to all dairymen that on and after 1st
January, 1926, the Council would require Grade "A" (Tuberculin
Tested) milk to be delivered on all orders issued under the Maternity
and Child Welfare Milk Scheme.
