The Maternity and Child Welfare work is divided between the
Borough Council and the Royal College of St. Katharine, the Borough
Council taking the areas north of Bow Road and south of East India
Dock Road and the Royal College of St. Katharine being responsible
for the intermediate area (practically the whole of Bromley). The Royal
College with a staff of medical officers, dentist, health visitors and
nurses, is centred at 242, Brunswick Road, and in addition to
maternity and child welfare, and dental clinics, its activities include
observation wards, artificial sunlight treatment centre and tonsil clinic.
The scheme of co-operation with the Royal College is as follows: —
Birth enquiry forms are sent for all notified births. These are
returned for registration on the anniversary of each birthday up to
5 years or before in the case of removal or death. Lists of notified
cases of infectious diseases are sent. The Royal College supplies a
monthly return to this office of visits paid by Health Visitors and total
attendances at Clinics.
In addition there is also at 132, High Street, Poplar, a Maternity
and Child Welfare Centre, conducted under the auspices of the Settlement
of the Holy Child (Roman Catholic).
The case papers of all children under supervision are forwarded to
the Education Department of the London County Council as the children
attain the age of 5 years.

The Maternity and Child Welfare work has increased immensely since 1920. Larger attendances are being recorded at the Clinics, the total attendances during 1925, and the preceding years being as follows: —
