653 verminous school children (121 boys and 532 girls) belonging
to the Borough, and 491 school children (228 boys and 263 girls)
residing outside the Borough were bathed and their clothes were
disinfested.
2.456 children (1,107 boys and 1,349 girls) and 104 adults (60 male
and 44 female) suffering from scabies were similarly dealt with.
Miss Tattersall made 592 visits in connection with verminous
school children—373 Poplar, 166 Bromley, and 53 Bow.

Itch Cases.
Miss Tattersall made 308 visits in connection with children suffering
from itch—83 Poplar, 150 Bromley, and 75 Bow.
CLEANSING OF PERSONS ACT, 1897.
During the year 161 persons (100 men and 61 women—including
57 (40 men and 17 women) from Common Lodging Houses—see below)
had applied for baths and for their clothes to be disinfested. Since
the notices were posted throughout the Borough, a total of 6,440
persons, exclusive of non-residents, had applied for baths, etc., as
mentioned above.
