Food, and Drug Acta.
By your direction I have submitted 102 varied samples of food and
drugs to the Public Analyst for Analyses. Of the milks submitted, 49
were certified to be genuine but varied from very poor to very good
quality ; 11 of the butters and 9 of the margarines contained boric acid
in varying small proportions, ranging from 0.1 to 0.3 per cent., and
1 sausage contained 0.3 per cent.
One of the milks was certified to be deficient in solids not fat to
the extent of 3.4 per cent. The Vendor was cautioned.
One sample of mixed drugs submitted was insufficient to complete
analysis.
The remaining articles were all genuine.
