It should be borne in mind that, in studying death rates, comparison
should be made with those of districts the inhabitants of which exist
under similar conditions. See Table XVIII., page 62, East Districts.
The following are death rates per 1,000 living from the seven principal
zymotic diseases and respiratory diseases, and proportions of deaths to
1,000 deaths from all causes. See Table XXI., page 64.
ZYMOTIC DISEASES.
Measles, scarlet fever, pertussis, diphtheria and membranous croup, fever,
diarrhcea and enteritis.
