Milk.—Deficient in fat to extent of 8-6 per cent. Defendant fined
20s. and 21s. costs.
The milk taken on delivery at the Institutions in the district and at
the Schools has proved genuine, except in the latter case on one occasion,
but legal proceedings were not advised by Council's solicitor.
Public Health Act (London), 1891.
In two instances legal proceedings were necessary to enforce the
carrying out of the Council's Notices which had been served, the results
are shown below:—
Owner of premises summoned for not remedying dampness
of premises and other work not carried out. £3 penalty and
£2 2s. costs on first summons, and £2 including costs on second
summons.
When requested, I have visited the places, together with a representative
of the Local Government Board and inspected the foodstuffs
and Army rations being dealt with and found everything very satisfactory.
The factories and workers were exceptionally clean, and the conditions
under which work was carried on were very healthy.
Also together with the Local Government Board Inspector I have
visited the whole of the premises in the district occupied by Chinese.
Tuberculosis.
Very many premises were visited in connection with cases of tuberculosis
notified and precautionary measures advised. Where patients
had removed the new addresses were found and the places vacated were
disinfected.
Measles.
All cases of measles notified have been followed up as required.
Fried Fish Shops.
These premises have been inspected periodically as required, and
where necessary cleansing put in hand.
