trading to girls under 18 and to boys under 17, with the exception that
boys between 15 and 17, for whom better employment is not available,
may be engaged in street trading if licensed by the local authorities.
A Bill, upon which the present Bill is based, passed the House of Lords
last session, but, owing to lack of time, failed to pass the House of
Commons.
Eight Hours Working Day Bill.
A Bill to limit the Hours of Employment to Eight per Day.
Weekly Rest-Day Bill.
A Bill to secure one day's rest in seven for all workpeople ; to make
the first day of May a Bank Holiday throughout the United Kingdom ;
to secure a Week's Holiday for workpeople ; and to secure payment of
wages for public holidays.
Daylight Saving Bill.
A Bill to promote the earlier use of daylight in certain months
yearly ; and for other purposes relating thereto.
The General Purposes Committee had under further consideration
the Daylight Saving Bill, and recommended the Council that the Government
be asked to afford facilities for consideration of the Day-light
Saving Bill before next spring, and that private Members be asked to
give the Bill their chances in the ballot for Private Member's Bills next
Session.
