f The 787 deaths of infants under one year of ago include deaths in outlying institutions
and allow for deductions of non-residents.
The actual deaths inside the Borough without deducting non-residents and not
including deaths occurring in outlying institutions were 736—219 Poplar, 377 Bromley
and 140 Bow.
** See Health Visitor's Report (page 266). Mortality rate among infants visited
was 105'69 per 1000. The infants visited are for the most part in the poorest portions
of the Borough.
J In the County of London during the year 1911 there were 111,738 children born,
of whom 14,440 died under one year of age. "The rate in 1910 was only 103 per
1,000 births. This is the lowest London rate recorded, and is 29 per 1,000 below the
average in the preceding 10 years."—Registrar-General.
