Oaths Act, 1909 (see page 187.)
Gore Farm Hospital as a Sanatorium.
The Stepney Borough Council urged upon the Metropolitan Asylums
Board the desirability of the utilisation of the Gore Farm Hospital, lying
idle, as a sanatorium for consumptives, but the Board, who had the matter
before them on several occasions, had come to the conclusion they are not
in a position to act without the sanction and direction of the Local
Government Board. The Stepney Borough Council therefore appealed to
the Local Government Board to allow the Metropolitan Asylums Board to
use their vacant Isolation Hospitals for the reception of consumptive
patients for sanatorium treatment.
The Poplar Borough Council on several occasions had urged the
utilisation of the Gore Farm Hospital as a sanatorium for consumptives.
The Public Health and Housing Committee recommended the Council
to support the appeal of the Stepney Borough Council to the Local
Government Board to allow the Metropolitan Asylums Board to use their
vacant Isolation Hospitals for treatment of consumptive patients.
