Appointment of Health Visitor.
In March, 1908, Miss A. E. Hall was appointed Health Visitor for
the Borough. The appointment was made a temporary one, with a view
to re-appointment under the provision of the London County Council
(General Powers) Act, 1908, then under consideration by Parliament,
which enables the County Council to pay one-half the salaries of Health
Visitors appointed by the Metropolitan Borough Councils.
Whilst this report is being written the Local Government Board
approved the selection of Miss Hall as Health Visitor to the Borough.
The duties of the Council's Health Visitor are to visit births and give
advice on feeding and management of infants, and on cleanliness and
ventilation of homes, to visit cases of infantile summer diarrhœa: also to
organise and direct voluntary* assistance in the work.
