Report of Health Visitor.
Public Health Offices,
Bow Road, E.
January 1st, 1910.
To the Medical Officer of Health.
Sir,—
I beg to present the second Annual Report of my work.
Poplar Health Visiting Association.
The Poplar Health Visiting Association, of which I am organising
Secretary, continues to do good, steady work. The five "Centres" into
which the Borough is divided for working purposes are now properly
organised and in good working order, each "Centre" having its own
Hon. Secretary, Committee and band of "Helpers,'' the Hon. Sec. and
two Delegates from each forming the Executive Committee, which is the
ruling body of the Association. Consultation Days for Mothers and
Babies are established in each "Centre"; these are held once a month,
and the mothers may bring their infants to be weighed, and obtain advice
on feeding and general management from the doctor in attendance. A
"Provident Maternity Club" has been started in one "Centre." If this
is successful, and the necessary funds are forthcoming, similar clubs will
be started in each Centre. Several helpers have had to resign during the
year owing to illness, removal or other causes, the number remaining on
the list at the end of the year 1909 being sixty, including four doctors,
five secretaries, and fifty-one visitors. To these, and to all who have so
heartily co operated in helping forward the good work commenced by the
Association, I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my
heartfelt thanks, and trust that the success which has attended their first
efforts will be an incentive to them, not only to continue, but to try and
increase their efforts.
The Association is composed of the following:—
President Mrs. Sidney Buxton.
Vice-President Mrs. R. H. Green.
Hon. Treasurer Rev. H. Mosley.
