Report of Inspector West Combined Division.
Public Health Department.
31st December, 1908.
To the Medical Officer of Health.
Sir,—
I beg to lay before you my ninth Annual Report of the sanitary
work and other duties carried out under the different Acts in connection
therewith in the West Combined District during the past year, rendering
as far as possible a detailed account of nuisances abated, inspections
made, summonses applied for, etc.
Inspection of Division.
In investigating complaints and making inspections of all kinds 1272
houses or other premises have been visited, 249 of these visits being on
account of notifications of infectious diseases. In addition to these, 94
cases of pulmonary tuberculosis, notified under the new regulations, have
been visited and dealt with as required.
This number shows a further decrease upon those of the previous
year. Of the 249 cases 11 were notified from the Poplar and Stepney
Sick Asylum, 2 from Langley House Receiving Home and 4 from the
Poplar Union.
These visits to the number of 95 were carried out in the undermentioned localities, a large number of the drains proving unsound on being tested:—
| Ellesmere Street. | South East Row. |
| Langton Street. | Ricardo Street. |
| Prospect Place. | Vesey Street. |
| Park Street. | Upper North Street. |
| Sabbarton Street. |
and at odd houses as occasion required.
