the installation of the electrolytic plant, with the free distribution of the
fluid, need not be referred to in detail as the fact has been demonstrated
again and again. The ultimate gain to the Borough Council by the
continuance of this process will be enormous.

The following letter was submitted to the Public Health and Housing
Committee, viz.:—
At least during the year 1908 there must have been a saving to the Borough of £100.
The plant has been established over three years; it has paid for itself and also for the
construction of the depot where it is installed and from which the fluid is generally
distributed, and besides, there has been a saving of considerably over £1,200 to the
Borough and far most important of all, the health of the inhabitants is good. The
saving is based upvn the expenditure of 1905 when the supply was limited and not upon
an unlimited supply as at present. Therefore the saving is very much greater than the
figures seem to indicate. There is a request for another distributing depot to be opened,
which will make a total of six.
See pages 80 and 81 as to details of distribution.
