provision should be made in the Asylums Board Hospitals for reception
of patients suffering from erysipelas and puerperal fever, on conditions
similar to those attaching to the reception of fever, smallpox and

the Local Government Board were asked to include it in one of their
omnibus bills, or otherwise.
The average numbers of cases notified in London are 200 to 300 cases
of puerperal fever, and 4,000 to 5,000 of erysipelas each year, but many

Errors in Diagnosis.

diseases, either shortly after admission or after being in the hospital some
time, whilst the list also shows that some patients removed to the Metropolitan

some days, were returned home certified as not suffering from the
complaint or any other notifiable disease.
