Dairies, Cowsheds, Milkshops and Slaughterhouses.
These places are regularly visited during the year. The dippers and
storage vessels have been closely inspected as to cleanliness and have,
almost without exception, been kept in a good condition and the milkpans
have been kept covered over to keep out dust, etc.
In some cases where paraffin oil is sold it has been removed to a
further distance from the milkpans, and in other cases to the rear of the
premises. In three or four cases the sale has been stopped.
All changes of tenancy in milkshops (which are of frequent occurrence)
have been noted and the registers altered accordingly and brought up to
date.
The number of these on the registers at present are as follows:—
| Milkshops | 72 |
| Cowshed | 1 |
| Slaughterhouses | 2 |
Canal boats that are "registered" under the Acts are visited as
opportunities offer.
They have been found, as regards the cabins where the occupants
dwell, in an exceptionally clean and bright condition, and the cubic space
allowed has been utilised to the fullest extent.
The means of ventilation has been kept in order, and no cases of
illness have been discovered.
The "papers" have been produced and examined at times, and no
overcrowding has occurred.
Smoke Nuisances.
All complaints from the London County Council have been dealt with
and also my own observations. No legal proceedings were instituted as
the " notices" which were served were immediately attended to.
Food and Drugs Acts, 1875 to 1907.
During the year 56 samples of various kinds have been purchased for
analysis, 7 of which proved to be adulterated badly.
