Unsound Food.
During the year varied assortments of food stuffs have been
surrendered by the owners as being unfit for food. Certificates were
given where the articles were destroyed. On Thursday, 28th June, 1908,
1 ton 2cwt. of beef was seized and taken before the Magistrate, who
condemned it at once, and on 3rd July, 1908, two men, who were concerned
in the preparation for sale of this meat, were fined £20 and
5 guineas costs and £15 and 5 guineas costs respectively.
During the month of December, 1908, unsound food was seen upon
a stall in the Stepney district, and the Medical Officer of Health for that
Borough, acting upon the information, visited the stall and seized a
carcase of unsound beef.
Smoke Nuisances.
Many smoke nuisances have been notified, but only in one instance
has the help of the Police Court been sought to abate the said nuisance.
Offensive Matter.
There is a great improvement in the manner in which offensive
material is conveyed through the district. Only on two occasions were
carriers cautioned, but the nuisances were very slight.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
H. J. LANGLEY, Assoc. San. Inst.
Cert. Sanitary Inspector Exam. Board (Lond.) and
Inspector under the Sale of Food and Drugs
Act, and Canal Boats Act, Bromley North
Division.
