Licensed Premises' Urinals.
Four notices were served under Section 22, calling upon the owners
to provide proper doors to the urinals attached to their licensed premises.
THE INCORPORATED SOCIETY FOR
THE DESTRUCTION OF VERMIN.
The Incorporated Society for the Destruction of Vermin desired that
notice should be given them of cases of verminous dwellings in the
Borough in order that they might, in conjunction with the sanitary
officers, efficiently cleanse such places. It is intended to divide London
into districts and allocate to each a number of men to strip and distemper
walls, cleanse ceilings and floors, fumigate rooms and destroy verminous
bedding (bedding, etc., destroyed being replaced by the Society). The
men employed would be drawn from the unemployed registered by London
Distress Committees and other bodies. The Society is a strong one
influentially supported, and the Public Health and Housing Committee
were of opinion every facility should be offered them to carry out the
scheme, and recommended the Council that the Society for the Destruction
of Vermin be notified of cases of verminous houses occurring in the
Borough.
INSPECTION OF SCHOOLS.
The drinking water supplies, storage tanks, lavatories, and water
closets of the schools were inspected, and any defects found were notified
to the London County Council.
