Drains Tested.
The drains of 298 premises were tested by means of the " rocket"
smoke test. Forty-two were proved defective, not gastight, whilst in 256,
the remainder, the result was negative.
The water test has been applied to all new drainage work, and also
where practicable to drains partially reconstructed or repaired.

The drains of the under-mentioned premises were newly constructed
or reconstructed on' old lines, and also (where possible) intercepted,
ventilated and furnished with means of access for cleansing purposes, in
accordance with the London County Council's drainage bye-laws, and
owners plans submitted and approved by Council:—
