occurred in the Sick Asylum.
For death rates see Tables XVIII. and XIX., page 47.
At the end of the year there were 854 entries in the Measles Register
(305 Poplar, 371 Bromley, and 178 Bow), representing the number of
premises where Measles had been stated to have occurred. Upon enquiry
one case was stated to have recovered, 9 were found not to be cases,
16 were stated to be suffering from a different disease other than the one
notified, 6 wrong addresses (empty houses and unknown) were given, and
14 moved away before enquiries could be made. So that practically as
far as is known 808 cases of Measles occurred in the Borough.
Milkshops.
Five cases of Measles occurred in connection with milkshops, four
Poplar and one Bromley.
Disinfection and Outworkers.
283 rooms were disinfected by the Public Health Department, and
the remainder were disinfected by the tenants, medical practitioners
giving certificates that disinfection had been satisfactorily carried out.
Thirty-two cases removed before a certificate of recovery was received.
Respecting outworkers and the articles disinfected by the Council,
see pages 62 and 73.
