stitute of Preventive Medicines The Bacillus Diiphtheriæ was
isolated in 52 instances, suspicious Bacilli were found in 5
swabbings, and the Pseudo Diphtheritic Bacillus in 8 cases.
See pages 34 ,35 and 36, as to cases of Diphtheria admitted into
Metropolitan Asylums Board's Hospitals which were certified as
not having the complaint.
No deductions have been made in respect of these patients.
The 124 cases in Poplar were notified from 101 premises, the
303 cases in Bromley from 236 premises, and the 241 cases in Bow
from 182 houses, and of these premises the drains were found to
be defective in 57 instances—21 Poplar, 22 Bromley, and 14 Bow.
On account of a number of cases of Diphtheria in the Girls'
Department of the Atley Road School, the Medical Officer of the
Educational Department of the London County Council was communicated
with and the class and cloak rooms were disinfected.
