To the Medical Officer of Health.
Sir,—
I beg to submit to you my ninth Annual Report of the
sanitary work carried out in my district (East Combined Division)
during the year ending 31st December, 1904.
1,640 premises have been inspected, 1,220 in answer to complaints
of nuisances, 294 on account of notification of infectious
diseases, the remainder being 126 house-to-house inspections.
Out of the above total number of inspections the drains of 209
premises have been tested with either smoke or chemical drain
testers, and 133 were found to be defective (not gas tight), and
in 76 instances the tests revealed no defects, 849 premises were
found to be in good condition, see tabulated list for defects,
page 162.

House-to-house inspections have been carried out in the whole of the following streets, viz.: —

And sections of the following streets: —

Brunswick Street.(High) Street.
