Food and Drugs Acts.
By your direction I have submitted 62 varied samples of food
to the Public Analyst for analysis, of which 10 were certified to
have contained, in varying small proportions, boric acid.
Places where Food is Prepared.
The 28 coffee and eating houses and other premises where food
is prepared have been specially inspected, and the food stuff on
the premises examined with satisfactory results.
Unsound Food.
Through the year 19 casks and 3 boxes of beef and 1 trunk of
plaice have been specially examined by request of their respective
owners, and found unfit for human consumption.
The meat and fish were destroyed and the usual certificate given.
